Rangers 3, Black Hawks 2, OT

This was one of the most frustrating games of the season to watch. Everything that bothers you about the "new NHL" was on full display. Mysterious calls were made, obviously ones were not. The inconsistency is enough to drive the casual fan away from the game. Is this what Gary Bettman wants? This is the fourth year of the new officiating standard. Don't you think the players would get it by now and we would not have a game where 16 minor penalties are called? It's not the players fault- there's something wrong if they can't figure out by now what the refs decide to call.

Anyway, on to the game itself. MSG2 sucks. It was nice to watch a Ranger game in Chicago, something you don't see too often. Chris Drury was great, doing it all on the penalty kill in addition to scoring the two goals. He was begging for the deflection try in OT when Rozsival had the puck and finally got it when Redden let it go.

To allow only one goal in several minutes of 5 on 3, and do most of it with only four defensemen (Staal out for the misconduct, Girardi out with the injury) says it all about the penalty kill effort tonight. It was a two points the Rangers deserved, although Mike Hasenfratz did his best to keep it away from them.
