Mets to sign Redding

It looks like the Mets are about to sign Tim Redding. All that's left is a physical before it becomes official.

I was not comfortable with Jon Niese as one of the favorites for the 5th spot. He is more suited to start the season at Triple-A. This signing gives the Mets some pitching depth while they wait for Boras and his guys.

The question now: is the Pedro era officially over assuming the Mets sign one of Lowe, Perez, or Wolf? After saying the Mets are his top choice, does he still feel that way with this news? Would he sign a deal to compete for a job in the back end of the rotation?
