Fritsche traded

The Dan Fritsche era comes to an end as he is traded to the Minnesota Wild for Erik Reitz.

Let's face it, did anyone really think Fritsche would be a factor when the Rangers acquired him from Columbus along with Zherdev? He was one of a many third/fourth line forwards arriving at the same time as Aaron Voros and Patrick Rissmiller. It was a surprise that he was even signed to a contract a couple of weeks after the trade.

The deal makes sense for the Rangers. One of the glut of forwards had to go. You trade one healthy scratch for another, except we finally add a seventh defenseman in Reitz. A defenseman who is not afraid to fight, although judging by his record on hockeyfights.com, it looks like we have another Aaron Voros. Not crazy about fighters who wear visors. I wonder if he and Marc Staal will have a chat about this one:
