Maple Leafs 2, Rangers 1, SO

If you simply look at the score, you would not think anything was different about this game, the first in the John Tortorella era. However, there were some good signs.

The power play quarterback we needed actually scored a goal- on the power play! Petr Prucha was on the power play. He even had more than 15 minutes of ice time.

Dan Girardi was finally free from playing with Wade Redden. There was a ton of ice time for the top four defensemen.

Torts said the team was gassed in the third period. Don't know what that means for the rest of this season. Perhaps you might see a couple of hard practices during that stretch of days off in the first week of March. Otherwise, you don't want to wear them out any more than they already are.

Aaron Voros, who was a healthy scratch, could return to the lineup today vs the Panthers. My guess is that Colton Orr (a shade over six minutes of ice last night) sits out his first game of the season.
